*Live and Virtual Piano Lessons for Children and Adults*
Learn More, Pay Less, in Less Time!

Greetings Bay Area!
I'm Brian Schachter, and I've been teaching Jazz, Blues, World Music styles and Classical piano in the East Bay now for twenty years. I give students a strong musical foundation with which they will be able to master any genre of music, while having fun at the same time!
Life in the Bay Area can be busy and expensive, so I've been searching for a way to offer more for less.
My Solution:
A Combination of Live and Virtual Lessons with Constant Support to Keep You Practicing!
Here's how it works:
1. Come enjoy an hour long, live lesson in my North Oakland studio, once per month.
2. Every week, you (or your child) send me audio recordings of yourself playing through your whole lesson
3. I'll send you feedback each week, in the form of email, audio or video, depending on where you are with any particular musical pie e you are working on. Sometimes the feedback will include full on new video lessons, sometimes it will be some words of encouragement, urging you to keep practicing and giving some tips on how to practice most effectively.
I am offering all of this for only $120 per month-
Schedule yourself NOW for the Week of Sunday August 16th Through Thursday August 20th before it before it fills up!
Just click on the "Schedule Now" box in the lower right corner, then pick your desired time during the week of Sunday Aug 16th through Thursday August 20th, put in your info, and I'll be in touch over email to confirm your lesson.
(Compare- a month of live, hour long lessons with me would be either $280 or $350, depending on whether there are 4 or 5 weeks in the month. A month of half hour lessons would be either $160 or $200.)
With this new format, you will get:
*1 hour live lesson, plus weekly lessons and lively encouragements as emails/audio recordings/videos.
*In addition, each student receives a private web page which contains practice instructions, videos, and sheet music when needed.
*As I give the virtual lessons in between the live lessons, I can update your private webpage with new practice instructions, videos and any necessary materials.
*I'll also send weekly reminders for you to send me your recordings, plus reminders for the lessons so you don't forget!
Why is this format better for some people?
Because you don't learn piano from lessons, you learn from practicing!
The purpose of the lessons is to teach you what to practice. With this new format, you will receive MORE support in your practice than with weekly lessons. This is because making weekly recordings of your practice will force you to practice carefully. You will be more accountable!
And, you will pay less and not have to schlep to my house as much; for many students, this will work better. Of course, its success will depend partially on your own ability to stay on track and make me the weekly recordings. But, I'll send you reminders and encouragements to help you do it!
Easy! I'll send you an invoice and you can pay with a credit card! Or bring a check when you come.
I look forward to seeing you!
Please feel free to email me any questions!
Be well,
brian
"Brian is an exceptional teacher who has a great love and understanding of music. He is patient and understanding, encourages students but never pushes them beyond their capabilities. He also seems to understand children on their level and works with them according to their abilities. The studio in which Brian holds his lessons is bright and peaceful, and the atmosphere is great for learning. My son's skills have grown steadily over the time he has worked with Brian, and his confidence has increased. I am very grateful to Brian for his excellent teaching, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a wonderful piano teacher."

"Brian has been much more then a piano teacher to our son, Jacob. He has cultivated in him a strong, personal relationship with music! Brian's gentle, persistent, and attuned style has allowed our boy to feel completely comfortable with the process of learning - from playing to reading, improvising and composing. We are regularly surprised to find Jacob at the piano creating his own music or choosing his own pieces to learn. Brian's talent as a teacher is that he provides not only strong technique and extensive musical knowledge, but also confidence and feelings of 'ownership' in his students. We could not have asked for more! We are having a fantastic experience with Brian and highly recommend him."
